Hi there, my name is Amy. The thirty something woman behind the blog, Beautifully Broken Journey.
I went on my first diet in 4th grade and spent decades hating my body and trying to change it. In 2018 I said goodbye to diet culture and hating my pear shaped figure after losing over 100 pounds and still finding fault when I looked at myself in the mirror.
I began embracing my body and my journey and felt called to help others do the same.
I realized I had more to offer this world than a smaller butt, and I wasn’t going to be quiet about the shift in my mindset. This shift led me to a surrendering of the body I “thought” I should have, and embracing the body I was given. My intention is to help other women embrace their body and their journey to live a happier, and healthier, life.
Once I embraced listening to my body and what it needed versus a diet telling me how to treat it, I began to realize that I didn’t feel as good as I thought I should. After having my 3rd baby in 2019 my body felt much worse than it did while I was pregnant, and instead of waving my white flag and joining the next diet when the baby weight didn’t fall off… I reached out for help instead.
That led me to the diagnosis of the autoimmune disease, Hashimoto’s.
Since 2019 I have been healing my body naturally, and with the help of the thyroid medication my body needs, to heal from the inside out. I am a work in progress, always learning new things, and I’m honestly pretty thankful for the path my diagnosis led me down as I feel empowered and have learned how to take better care of my body.
I want this to be a space where women can come and feel seen. Whether you have battled an eating disorder like myself, an autoimmune disease, or enjoy learning more about cleaning up your environment including safer beauty and household products… I’m glad you are here.
I do eat gluten and dairy free because that is what I have found helps me manage my Hashimoto’s so I share recipes I enjoy that don’t taste awful. I promise. While I have chosen to eat this way I want you to know I believe in body autonomy… so you will never be judged if you don’t eat the way I do.
I encourage you to listen to your body and learn what it needs and treat it kindly… it will respond positively!
I am a wife and Mom of 3 who will never claim to have life all figured out, but I do share our real & unfiltered life. Life isn’t perfect and perfection doesn’t help anyone in my opinion.
I love to read (or listen to audiobooks), an encouraging podcast, a glass of wine, a good face mask, Bar Method, watching my kids play sports, Project Life and singing my favorite songs (at the top of my lungs) in my minivan.
I took my love of blogging and turned it into a business where I could help others with my business partner Jennifer, and together we started Spark Media Concepts in 2017. I love encouraging others to dream big and turn their passion into their purpose.
