Salt gets a bad wrap. Some salt is better for you than others, and I’m excited to share with you more about my favorite salt, Redmond’s Real Salt.
I first heard of Redmond’s Real Salt when I went to a food blogger conference in Utah. Everyone was raving about it, and I was like, “Um, it’s salt everyone. What could possibly be the big deal??” Then, I tried it and I totally got it.
Redmond’s Real Salt comes from a pristine, underground salt deposit in Utah left behind by an ancient sea. It contains 60+ trace minerals and is naturally protected from pollutants.
Fueling my body with clean ingredients has become really important to me since being diagnosed with Hashimoto’s. I never really thought about table salt before, but when I learned that I could be missing out on some important minerals that would help my body feel it’s best, I decided to give Real Salt a try.
What is the Real Salt?
Redmond’s is what is known as the Real Salt. It is loaded with natural minerals that make it healthy, delicious, and pink or red looking. It is unrefined and is brought to you directly as nature created it.
We have replaced all the salt in our home with Redmond’s Real Salt. Not only is it better for you… it tastes better. This is coming from a person who doesn’t usually get excited about salt. I can take or leave it to be honest. But, I love this salt.
I know when I sprinkle it on my kids plates and my own, I’m adding important minerals that their body needs to function at it’s best.
Why Real Salt is better for you than table salt
Table salt is stripped of healthy, naturally-occurring minerals, bleached, and infused with unnatural additives. Some table sugars even have dextrose (sugar) added to make it taste better since the minerals have been removed. Table salt doesn’t give your body the minerals it needs to use sodium effectively.
Sodium works best when paired with potassium, which occurs naturally. When they are paired, potassium helps encourage the kidneys to excrete excess sodium that could potentially have harmful effects on the body.
Real Salt does not have anything added to it and the minerals found in it are minerals your body needs!
Some of the minerals found in Real Salt are
- there are 60+ trace minerals found.

Switching the salt you use is a very simple swap that can add important nutrients to your diet. Salt is still something that you want to use as a way to enhance flavor within reason, but I don’t believe it’s something we need to eliminate, unless you have been instructed to do so by a doctor.
Where can I buy Real Salt?
You can find it at many grocery stores, but you can also purchase directly online. If you’d like to purchase online you can use code AMY for 15% off.
I was a customer long before I became an affiliate with Redmond. I reached out to them asking for a code to share because I love this product so much. I hope you’ll give it a try, and please come back and tell me if you love it as well!
My favorite Redmond Products are:
- Salt Shaker– great way to start out and try Real Salt
- Refillable pouch- this is what we buy so I always have it on hand
- Re-Lyte Electrolyte Mix– Lemon Lime is my favorite. Great for after sports or you can use to increase hydration as well. It does taste salty so be prepared for that. It is different than store-bought electrolyte drinks I’ve had but I know it’s much more effective as well.
- Garlic Salt– It’s so much better than what I was buying before!
