Books I Read in 2020
I can hardly believe I read 21 books in 2020. TWENTY-ONE books!
I feel like this year I finally got back in the groove of reading, something I’d missed so much. In 2019 I only read 9 books and honestly at the end of the year it was something that made me a bit sad. I didn’t make time for something that brings me a lot of joy and I wanted to make it different this year.
I have loved reading since I was young. Like so many young girls, my love of reading was sparked by The Babysitter’s Club. I can still remember getting them in the mail and devouring them quickly. You can check out some of my favorite reads over the years here.
As an adult, reading looks a bit different for me. This year I finally embraced that audiobooks are likely the only way I can read a book, and I will fully admit every single book you see on this list was listened to.
I miss holding a book in my hand, but I will take what I can get these days. Listening to books while driving or doing household chores or making dinner with an AirPod in one ear is how I made time to read this year… and I’m so glad I did.
Reading transports me to another space, and there have been many times this year I needed an escape 🙂 (hello, quarantine!)
I loved some of these books, and didn’t love some of them. I did finish every book I started because I really hate it to not finish books I start.

Five Star Books
I read some amazing books this year.
I have a new appreciation for Jessica Simpson for sure after reading her memoir. I couldn’t put American Royals or The Guest List down, either. The Lies that Bind was beautifully written and though it was about September 11th and brought up some big emotions, it easily became a favorite.
Big Summer was so unexpected and I loved it. Call your Daughter Home and The Giver of Stars were both beautiful historical fiction novels.

Four Star Books
The House we Grew Up In and The Socialite were both book club books that I wouldn’t have picked up if my friends hadn’t, but I enjoyed them both. I was one of the only ones in my book club who enjoyed the Lisa Jewell book, but it was packed with a lot of twists and drama.
Stories that Stick is a great read for content creators especially. It was a bit repetitive by the end but I still think it’s a great read.

Three Star Books
I was so sad that the 2nd book in the American Royals series didn’t live up to the hype of the first book. I was just so disappointed! I still highly recommend American Royals though!
The Book Woman of Troublesome Creek was another book club book and while I enjoyed it, it was just “ok” for me.

Yikes. This one just wasn’t a favorite. I found it a little boring to be honest. So many people enjoyed it, it just wasn’t my style.

What is the cheapest way to listen to audiobooks?
My local library has a few different apps I can use for free books
- Axis 360
- Libby
- Cloud Library
I always try to get my books from the library whenever possible, but if I can’t, I download them on Libro.fm. If you use my referral link you can get one free audiobook!
