To the one who overindulged this weekend.
To the one who woke up this morning, staring at themselves in the mirror angry for the choices they made.
To the one who is putting their worth in the number they see on the scale.
To the one who spent the weekend comforting their pain, hurt, fear, bitterness with food in hopes that it would take the pain away… but instead left you feeling even more hopeless.
I see you.
To the woman who believes her worth is in the size of her jeans.
To the Mom who compares herself to the other Mom’s who are fitter, prettier or more “put together” than she sees herself.
To the woman who wants to be married, and believes that she is unlovable because of her size.
I see you.
To the one who feels out of control.
To the one who wants things to be better, but can’t seem to pull themselves together.
To the one who wants to be healthy more than anything, but food has such a tight grip that healthy feels like an impossible dream.
I see you.
To the woman who is losing her marriage because of depression.
To the woman who is fearing having children because it will make her “fat”.
To the woman who stares at her body and curses it because it’s not what she thinks it should be.
I USED TO BE YOU.
I am here to tell you the number on the scale, the food you overate, the people who have hurt you… none of it defines you.
I am here to tell you that freedom is possible.
Freedom from fear, guilt and shame are all emotions that you can leave behind you.
You don’t have to live your life hating yourself. You can find hope. You can find peace and you can move forward happier and healthier than ever before.
I am living proof.
I know what it feels like to want to give up.
I know what it feels like to hate every ounce of yourself.
I know what it feels like when absolutely no one understands who you are and what you are going through.
But, keep fighting. Keep going.
Someday, you will look back on this time and it will all make sense.
Someday you will be thankful for the darkness because it will prove to you that in the darkness there is always a way for the light to shine through.
In the darkness is where we become strong and courageous.
Without the darkness we wouldn’t become the warriors we were meant to be.
I believe in you, even if you don’t believe in yourself yet.
I believe in your story, even if you think it has no purpose.
I believe that freedom is within reach, but you have to take the first step.
The first step is forgiveness.
Forgive yourself.
Forgive those who hurt you.
Forgive God.
Then wait and see the goodness that He has waiting for you. He will make sense of it all someday, it might not be when you want it to be… but someday, you’ll have the answers you need if you continue to believe in His promises.
So start today with hope and give yourself grace and love and make today different. You can have whatever your heart desires once you break the chains of bitterness and guilt.
Start today.
Start now.
It’s going to take work. It won’t be easy. You will want to give up… but don’t.
Live to tell the story on the other side.
Remind yourself why you are making a change. Remind yourself who you are doing it for.
I see you, I believe in you and I know you can overcome the darkness.
That was absolutely beautiful! And so very true. Just what everyone needs to read, Thank you!
You really touhed my heart!!!
Thank you for your beautiful words! 🙂
Beautifully written, yes my sweet daughter, you are LIVING PROOF and I’m so proud of the beautifully broken person you have become. We are not perfect people but we need to love ourselves for who we are each and every day and you’ve learned how to do that. I admire you for putting your story out there in hopes of helping others know there is light at the end of the darkness.
Love you, Mom
Amen sister!! Yes sooo true! LOVE Ya!!
