19 Delicious Gluten Free Snacks

Sharing is caring!

What if I told you that the best gluten free snacks weren’t in a box you are going to find at the grocery store? Maybe it’s not a new gluten free product you are seeing marketed to you, but rather, it’s whole food ingredients that will nourish your body… and taste good, too! Because enjoying our food is important.

Eating a gluten free diet does not have to be bland and boring and gross. In fact, it should never feel like that!

Food is meant to be enjoyed, and sometimes I think healthy food has a bad reputation that eating more nutritious means we’ve sucked the joy out of our lives. I want to help change that narrative for you. Will you let me?

Snacking is part of our lives, and while finding healthy gluten free snacks you enjoy can take some trial and error, it’s worth it to truly learn to enjoy nourishing your body in a healthy way.

If you are new to a gluten free lifestyle and feel like you’ll never eat anything delicious ever again I encourage you to try some of these snacks below. Keep trying new foods and don’t feel like you need to replace all the foods you used to eat with gluten with a bunch of foods that are labeled gluten free.

A lot of gluten free packaged foods have a lot of additional ingredients that aren’t all that good for you, but are used since the gluten has been removed. I want to encourage you to find some real food items that you can pair together to not only leaving you feeling satisfied, but also one you enjoyed!

If you don’t enjoy your food, you’ll just keep trying to find something to satisfy your craving, so do not settle for food that doesn’t excite you.

Listed below are 19 delicious gluten free snacks and my kids eat most of them, too! It’s never too early to help kids develop a palate for healthy real food.

Dates & Almond Butter

This is one of my go-to snacks. If I need something a little sweet, a medjool date is a deliciously sweet and satisfying treat. Add some almond butter on it and now you have yourself a balanced snack that will blow your mind. Dates are a good source of magnesium, fiber and copper, too. Just be sure to remove the pit!

When buying almond butter make sure it doesn’t have a bunch of added ingredients. You really only need almonds.

Cashews and Raspberries

We love cashews at our house and raspberries are a fun fruit, too. My kids will gobble up an entire Costco size container of raspberries in no time! Costco also has a great brand of cashews that are organic and are literally just cashews. No sneaky ingredients and they are great for snacking.

Apple and almond butter

If almond butter isn’t your thing you could also easily do an apple and peanut butter. I love this snack and so do my kids. Both items are kitchen staples so we always have them on hand when anyone is feeling hungry.

Banana and almond butter sprinkled with chia seeds

I’ve started putting chia seeds on everything since they are so good for us. I love the combo of a banana and almond butter and by sprinkling some chia seeds on top (around 1/4-1/2 tsp) you are adding additional fiber. We add chia seeds to smoothies, yogurt, baked goods and oatmeal. They are so versatile!

Yogurt with berries, granola + chia seeds

We use dairy free yogurt in our house, but if you can eat greek yogurt I’d recommend greek yogurt to increase your protein and use about 1/4 cup of granola, some berries and sprinkle with chia seeds if you wish. Just make sure your granola is certified gluten free! Safe + Fair makes great granola and Target also has a few good gluten free options as well.

If you are dairy free you can always add a scoop of collagen to your yogurt to give it more protein.

Hard boiled eggs and avocado

This is a great snack to prepare ahead of time. I use a Dash egg cooker to make my hard boiled eggs and you can do this at the beginning of the week and have them ready to go. I also love the teeny tiny avocados at Trader Joe’s (I believe you can find tiny avocados at Target as well).

Sprinkle with a bit of Redmond Real Salt (code AMY saves you 15%) and you have yourself a delicious and satiating snack!

Tuna Salad with carrots and/or cucumbers

If you made tuna salad for lunch, you can easily eat a smaller portion for a snack later! Pair it with carrots or cucumbers for some crunch and vegetables.

Blueberry Banana Smoothie

Smoothies are a great snack. My blueberry banana smoothie is delicious and filled with great nutrition as well. If it’s too much food for a snack you can always half a smoothie recipe to help satisfy you until your next meal.

You can also try my strawberry mango smoothie.

Carrots and hummus

We buy the snack packs of organic hummus at Costco and they make a great snack! Also, I think its worth the extra time to buy carrots and cut them up instead of baby carrots. They have much more flavor and crunch!

Roasted sweet potato and drizzled almond butter

I love making up a large batch of sweet potatoes and having them on hand to use in a variety of ways throughout the week. If you have prepared sweet potatoes just heat them up and drizzle with some almond butter for a savory snack. My favorite almond butters are from Costco and Target Good & Gather brand is wonderful, too.

Gluten free rice cakes with nut butter + chia seeds

Need some crunch? Rice cakes pair well with your favorite nut butter, and sprinkle some chia seeds on the top for some added fiber!

Protein Balls

There are so many different recipes for protein balls (aka energy bites), and I’ve never had one I didn’t like! Protein balls are great to meal prep and have them on hand for the week and are also great if you are headed out on a road trip! I have two recipes on the blog for you to try. 5 Ingredient Peanut Butter Protein Balls and Oatmeal Raisin Protein Balls.

Tip: Anytime you use oats, make sure they are labeled Gluten Free. Oats are one of the most easily contaminated foods so be aware that gluten free oats are what you want to use.

Raspberries with dark chocolate

You know that little pocket in raspberries… a small piece of dark chocolate fits right in it! My kids devour raspberries, the package never lasts longer than one sitting! Why not pair it with a few pieces or morsels of delicious dark chocolate?! If you are looking for a dairy free option for chocolate we really like enjoy life chocolate chips.

Fruit Salad + Almonds

Fruit salad is so refreshing in spring and summer and great to have on hand as well. I have a delicious honey lime fruit salad you are sure to love! Grab a handful of almonds to make it balanced!

Red Bell Pepper and guacamole

Did you know red bell peppers have more vitamin c than an orange? It’s true. Cut up some red bell pepper slices and dip them in guacamole. We always buy the snack packs of guacamole from Costco so they are pre-portioned and easy to grab!

Cucumber slices and hummus

Using the snack packs of hummus we have on hand from Costco, they make a great pairing with cucumber slices. You could also sprinkle it with some everything but the bagel seasoning for a little extra flavor!

Beef stick

Beef sticks are a great snack to keep in your purse or in the car for a quick snack. They are a quick source of protein. We love the ones from PaleoValley and Costco sometimes carries the Archer Farms brand that is good as well.
